SEMINAR I
"I"

"TRANSITORY STATE" IS DEDICATED TO

My Father and Mother who, without fail, have believed in me and have been there for me always.

"Great Spirits often face violent opposition from mediocre minds" - Albert Einstein

Intoduction

I must say in all sincerity.....it's great to be back! Yes once again, I have had an overwhelming urge to express myself on paper. Unlike my first booklet 'Sanctuary'
my inspiration for 'Transitory State' came from general observation rather than frustration.

Regardless of the source of inspiration, I am pleased to be writing. I have noticed a consistent theme of spirituality and self awareness in my booklets. This was not by design. For those of different taste I also have spatterings of amusing or insightful pieces written from how I view existence.

'Transitory State' seems to express the changes I see which could be, should be, or will be made in events, beliefs, practices and habits of life.
Some of the pieces reflect my personal change of attitude and others talk of my hopes that some changes will occur for the better when certain issues in life are confronted.
It is my hope that you, the reader, recognize the important role that change or transition plays in our lives. Change is truly a relentless constant that perhaps personifies reality.
From the moment we are concieved to the time of our death, we struggle with the truth in a transitory state.

Foreward

Some shun dreams
But I'm a dreamer
Others await things to happen
I make things happen

Life isn't what one meant to do
But of doing what is meant
What good are expectations
Without fulfilling the expected

Those who chose to follow
Are likely to wallow
In the pit of misery
Because of their timidity

So why complian?
Accept your position
Life is full of pain
Lest you change your direction

Do The Write Thing

I seem to have a problem at hand
I'm not sure what it's all about
The passion in my writing is gone
Inspirational flames have burned out

Something is numbing my senses
Exactly what I'm not quite sure
I don't know what approach to take
I've never had this problem before

My expression comes from experience
Sometimes it can be a bit much
Still my conscious mind keeps working
Has my subconscious "being" lost touch?

Creative minds are always at work
They thrive on inspiration
Perhaps I've become too preoccupied
With thoughts of transcending creation

Well...enough with visions of grandeur
They're blocking my objective insights
It's best i don't dwell on my problems
I'll just sit myself down and write.

For Respect of Creation

Hear yourself, not to forget
Of your soul you must confess
Find your cause without regret
Hear your call, do not protest

Rise undaunted to bear witness
Integrity will be your guide
Humbly suckle from life’s breast
Creation hungers deep inside

Fear not that which mystifies
Resolving questions asked within
Wisdom’s seen through open eyes
Deprivation bows to sin

Interpret truth to rest the spirit
Express yourself for purity
Forge ahead, do not submit
Bare your soul for all to see

Spare Me The Story

Spare me the story
I’ve heard it before
Please do not bore me
I’ll head for the door

Did you ever consider
We all have bad times
You’re acting quite bitter
As if life’s a crime

You’re truly pathetic
I’m sure you’ve been told
You’re hardly kinetic
In fact your quite cold

You want my approval
Of all that your not
What you need is removal!
Cause you’re all that you’ve got

I’m not a mean person
That’s not my norm
But you’ve got me cursing
You’re in bad form

So please get a grip
Then give me some space
Just read my lips
Get out of my face

My Opinion

There is growth from pain
There are people you can trust
The world is insane
It’s ok to lust
Mankind has not advanced
Teenagers can respect
Breast shouldn’t be enhanced
There is no longer “safe sex”
Our existence is selfish
Temptation is Satan
Cheap moments are relished
Homosexuals can’t be latent
Blacks should unite
There is hope for mankind
Being wrong can be right
Progress leaves us behind
There are too many critics
Mistakes can be regrettable
Religion mirrors politics
True love is unforgettable
There will always be war
Art shouldn’t be restricted
Being close can be far
Man’s plight was predicted
Greed prompts aggression
All is God’s dominion
Fear leads to regression
I’m entitled to my opinion

Headmaster Bation

Headmaster Bation loved his vocation
An administrator of education
His standards topped most of any nation
He lived life for his occupation
We students pondered on occasion
What did he do for relaxation
We quipped it was prescribed sedation
I wanted actual verification
His office door became temptation
I snuck I with no invitation
In alleged search for information
That’s when I made the observation
Of his focused concentration
Panting and deep inhalation
Had given me the indication
It was not hyperventilation
More like ritual celebration
His surprise turned into indignation
He offered a quick explanation
His guru of spiritual relation
Taught him of this great sensation
He called it mid point levitation
A way to defy gravitation
In spite of his pontification
Followed by intimidation
I went and did a imitation
For the Ministry of Education
And after the investigation
There was no hope of vindication
Then promptly out Headmaster Bation
Was sent on permanent vacation
The duration.

I'll Always Remember

I'll always remember
that day we met
It's a treasured memory
You had an aura
people don't forget
A radiant purity

They say beauty
is only skin deep
Yours started deep within
Natural qualities
one should keep
To look at you was sin

There was a glow
that hypnotized
I had never seen before
Then when you spoke
I realized
I wanted you forever more

I stood breathless
at a loss for words
I did not know what to say
But from your gaze
I felt assured
That you felt the same way

Then our words flowed
we spoke naturally
Conversing soul to soul
A stitch in time
hemming history
Together we became whole

I'll always remember
that day we met
I knew it was meant to be
A lasting impression
I will never forget
I saw love for eternity

"I'll always remember"

My Plate

I think I’ve gone full circle
And on the way
I got some pointers.
Learned some lesson
about the gruesome facts of life.
I can’t say I like ‘em
But that’s the way
It’s always been.
Exactly what’s the program
And how the hell can I fit in.

I’m not too late
Life’s on my plate
Better Eat It

Take time to consider
That it’s a play
And we’re the actors
Not looking for an Oscar
But sure wish that i could act.

I don’t think there were auditions
‘Cause if there were
I should feel lucky
With my slick sense of duty
To help bad scenes move along.

But that don’t rate
Life’s on my plate
Better Eat It

I’m glad i don’t give up easy
There’s times I’d love
To pack the show in
But I’ve never been a quitter
That’s my redeeming quality

Hope I’m one of the survivors
Somehow I feel
Like I’m an outcast
I know there’s plenty of others
That are searching just like me.

I’d best not wait
Life’s on my plate
Better Eat It.

Take Time For a Quick Short Story

Once upon a time there was Time. It lived slightly past Nothing, next door Something across the street from Reality. Collectively they existed in the community of Pure Energy. Time was not known to be overtly social but did manage to interact with it’s neighbours well and likes its simple existence. Unfortunatly Time’s neighbours felt bored and restless in the community of Pure Energy, and decided to request a meeting with community representatives to discuss the need for some form of change. That change being the extension of the community by constructing a new neighbourhood.

The community board had prestigious members which included Continuum, space, Polarization, Magnetic Force and Vacuum. Collectively they were considered constructive organizers. After community meetings, a plecibite, and the presenting of a petition, the representatives of the community of Pure Energy decided it would be in everyone’s best interests to introduce some form of change. To complete this undertaking a development company named The Universe , and a construction company named Creation were formed to build the new neighbourhood.

Time was infuriated and vowed to move into the newly developed area and become the scourge of it’s inhabitants. Nothing thought nothing of this. Something thought something but did nothing. Reality thought Something was making something out of nothing.
Eventually the board of pure energy completed it’s task developing through the universe and constructing with creation and completed the neighbothood which was appropriately called ‘Existence’. Time promptly moved in and, as promised, Time, time and time again, proved to be the scourge of the happy residents of Existence. Something, Nothing, and Reality continued to cohabitate with Existence in their community of Pure Energy and felt contented with the interactive results of their community enhancement. Therefore, they have never moved. Time moving into Existence had minor impact on Something, Nothing, and Reality.

The End or The Beginning

Time To Change

TIME ----------------- To make a change
(adaptation)
MEANS -------------- Traverse against the grain
(uphill)
ENDING --------------- Your turn is 180*
(practically)
TO --------------------- Make a new beginning
(sanely)
BEGIN ---------------- Revamping old habits
(humbly)
ONCE ----------------- Objectivity becomes priority,
(sensibly)
AGAIN ---------------- You need to adjust.
(peacefully)

Addiction

There is absolutely no darker, lonelier, humiliating trait than that of addiction, regardless of what vice it presents itself in. I compare the illness of addiction to being trapped by a stranger in a damp, rotten-smelling dirt pit that seemingly has one other exit, which leads into another hell hole. I do not pity those suffering from addiction because I feel it can be a vehicle for spiritual realization. However, I do pity those who are quick to prejudge or look down upon those unfortunates who are afflicted with any kind of addiction. Their prejudgment clearly demonstrates a lack of true compassion which serves as the catalyst for spiritual wholeness.

One trait an addict will accquire in recovery is compassion. It is often true that individuals who confront and overcome addiction become more open minded, nonjudgemental, understanding beings who make time to assist others facing various problems.

Addiction necessitates recognition of self and propels people to awareness , or destruction, or both. Self-awareness and self destruction make a statement of the ironic patterns of mankind through existence. Addiction is a relevant occurrence in our repetitious life cycle which perpetuates the plight of humanity. For all those who suffer from addiction, recognize the nobility in recovery and the resulting potential for a higher level of being. Focus your thoughts on that.

One Night Stand

Thanks for gracing me
With your presence
The pleasure was all yours,
That’s how it seems
You must give yourself
a standing ovation
Now that I’ve satisfied
Your jaded dreams

I guess it’s safe to say
The loving’s over
Lovers walk out a door
Instead you ran
Your message has been stated
Quite clearly
Last night I was your chosen
One night stand

How was I your “lucky”
Latest victim?
So you prefer your pleasure
Served up raw
The proof was in your
Regressive behaviour
Only animals have the ability
To paw

Would someone believe me
If I told them?
Maybe I’ll forgive me
If I can
But let me state my message
Quite clearly!
I hated being your chosen
One night stand

I Am The Man

I am the man
That I am
Which man you ask?
Good question
Yes I am he
It's true indeed
So let's begin your lesson

How does it feel?
Is it real?
You wish it wasn't
Too late
Stop the tears
Release your fears
Let me educate

I am the Man
That I am
Now you know who
That's nice
Yes I am he
Oppression for free
Let's see what you'll sacrifice

You had your esteem
Invested in dreams
You lost faith in the Man
Too bad
Reach deep inside
Forget false pride
Reclaim the pure spirit you had
